Internet ad prices are the highest since 2011

The producer price index for internet advertising sales reached 133.3 in July, the highest since May 2011. The decade of ad-price deflation is fully unwound: prices fell 49% from the 2011 peak to the June 2020 trough, and have risen 89% since.
What this measures: the prices publishers charge for internet ad space (a BLS producer price index), not any single platform’s CPMs. The series is spliced at the 2022 PPI reclassification with the junction marked on the live page; the frozen legacy series still renders plausibly on FRED, which is why we maintain the continued one.
