What Top Fund Managers Bought & Sold Last Quarter (13F Consensus)

20 tracked managers — Buffett, Druckenmiller, Ackman, Li Lu, Peltz and the rest of the Fund Managers panel — aggregated stock by stock from their latest SEC 13F filings. Consensus is counted in funds, never dollars (Berkshire's size would drown every other vote), share classes merge into one company, and every move is dated to its own report quarter. A curated panel this size is an overlap of independent research — not "the smart money" as a class, and the data is at least 45 days old by design.

Latest filings in plain English

In Q2 2026 — the latest quarter, with 18 of 20 tracked funds filed — the panel made 142 buy actions (57 new positions + 85 adds) against 119 sell actions (69 trims + 50 exits): net buying of 23. That flips 3 straight net-selling quarters. GOOGL remains the most widely held name (11 of 20 funds), 15 stocks drew buys from two or more managers, led by GOOGL, and 11 drew sells, led by META. All counts are funds acting — never dollars — above a 0.5%-of-portfolio floor; trailing filings: Burry (Q3 2025), Ackman (Q1 2026).

Panel activity by quarter — buys vs sells

Every floor-cleared move across the panel, bucketed by each fund's own report quarter (funds file on different schedules, so bucket sizes differ — the fund count is printed under each bar). Buy actions are new positions plus adds; sell actions are trims plus exits; the ink tick is the net. Quarters with fewer than 10 contributing funds are omitted as too thin to read.

Counts are fund-level moves above the 0.5%-of-portfolio floor — never dollars. Options, warrants, debt and untickered holdings excluded throughout.

Consensus buys — opened or added by 2+ managers

Names two or more of the panel opened or added in their latest reported quarter, counting only positions above 0.5% of each fund's portfolio. The strongest overlap — three or more managers — is GOOGL, AMZN, TSM, SPCX. Managers whose filing trails the panel's modal quarter carry a quarter tag.

Consensus sells — trimmed or exited by 2+ managers

The other side: names two or more managers reduced or fully exited. Read exits with their quarter tags — a lagging fund's exit happened months before the modal panel's moves — and remember a 13F cannot show why anyone sold.

Options positions — disclosed, not counted

13Fs also list holdings of listed options, and this panel filed 28 of them. They are excluded from every consensus count — a put is not a buy — but shown here because concentrated managers' options books are exactly what readers ask about. Filed notional value, not premium at risk; intent is invisible.

Full activity — every floor-cleared move

Every name with at least one floor-cleared move in the panel's latest filings, sorted by net activity (opens + adds − trims − exits). Disagreement is normal — these are independent managers. Excluded from all counts and disclosed: 28 options positions, 67 holdings without a resolvable ticker, 2 warrants, 5 debt securities (notes share their issuer's CUSIP root, so without this filter a convertible-note position would count as a stock buy).

How 13F Consensus Tracker Works

  1. 1
Start from the same filings as the fund pages
Each manager's latest 13F-HR filing is parsed quarterly from SEC EDGAR for our fund pages. This page aggregates those exact per-fund datasets — including the fetcher's precomputed NEW / ADD / TRIM statuses and exit lists — so the consensus view can never disagree with a fund's own page about the same filing.
  2. 2
Merge share classes into one company
Rows join on the CUSIP issuer root, so GOOGL and GOOG read as one Alphabet row instead of splitting the holder count across classes. Options positions, warrants, debt securities (notes share their issuer’s CUSIP root) and holdings without a resolvable ticker are excluded from consensus and disclosed in counts.
  3. 3
    Count funds, never dollars
Consensus is the number of managers acting. Dollars moved would mislead: Berkshire's portfolio is hundreds of times some panel members', so summed dollars would just measure Buffett. Combined value appears as context only. A 0.5%-of-portfolio floor keeps a diversified shop's tail positions from pairing into fake consensus.
  4. 4
    Date every move honestly
Funds file on different schedules: most of the panel sits on the latest quarter, some lag a quarter, and Scion is frozen at its final 2025 filing. Every move carries its own report quarter, and the page states which funds trail the modal quarter rather than pretending the panel filed in lockstep.

Who Uses 13F Consensus Tracker

Idea generators
The consensus-buys table surfaces names several independent managers opened or added in the same reporting stretch — a starting list for research, pre-filtered past any single manager's idiosyncrasies.
Position holders
If a stock you own shows multiple exits among tracked managers, that is worth knowing — the consensus-sells table shows who left and how large the position was before they did.
Manager followers
The conviction list ranks the largest single-fund position weights across the whole panel — the bets each manager is actually sized into, with a link to the full portfolio behind each one.
Narrative checkers
When a headline claims "hedge funds are dumping X," the activity table shows what the tracked panel actually reported: who trimmed, who added, and in which quarter — from filings, not sourcing.

Pro Tips

01
The data is at least 45 days old by design
A 13F covers a quarter-end and can be filed up to 45 days later — every position here may have changed since. Treat this as where managers stood, never where they stand today.
02
Long-only is half the book
13Fs disclose US-listed long positions and listed options only. Shorts, swaps, bonds and foreign-listed shares are invisible — a manager who looks "all-in" on a name may hold an offsetting position you cannot see.
03
Read exits with the vintage column
An exit reported for a lagging fund's quarter happened months earlier than the modal panel's moves. The per-move report quarter matters most on the sell side, where timing narratives get built.
04
Twenty funds is a panel, not "the smart money"
This is a curated set of well-known concentrated managers. It covers a sliver of institutional money. Consensus among them is an interesting overlap of independent research — it is not a market-wide flow reading.

Common Issues & Solutions

A famous manager position is missing
Only 20 funds are tracked (the registry on the Fund Managers page), and only their US-listed longs appear. Foreign listings (a manager's Tokyo or London positions), shorts and private stakes never show in a 13F.
The dollar values look inconsistent between funds
Consensus is counted in funds for exactly this reason. Combined value mixes portfolios of wildly different sizes and different report quarters — it is shown as context, never used for ranking.
A stock shows both adds and trims
That is real: these are independent managers, and disagreement is common. The net-activity column sums opens and adds against trims and exits; the per-fund moves show who was on each side.
This page and a fund page show a different quarter
Each fund page always shows that fund's own latest filing; this page aggregates each fund's latest filing too, but states the modal quarter and lists the funds that trail it. Scion (Burry) stopped filing after 2025-Q3 and stays frozen there.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a 13F filing?
A quarterly SEC disclosure required of institutional managers with $100M+ in US equities, listing their US-listed long positions and listed options as of quarter-end, filed up to 45 days later. It excludes shorts, bonds, swaps, foreign-listed shares and anything traded since the quarter ended.
What does "consensus" mean on this page?
The number of tracked funds that made the same kind of move in their latest reported quarter — opened or added for buys, trimmed or exited for sells — counting only positions above 0.5% of each fund's portfolio. It is counted in funds, never dollars, so one giant portfolio cannot manufacture consensus alone.
Is this what the smart money is buying?
It is what twenty well-known managers reported buying, which is narrower than the phrase implies. The panel is curated and small, the data is at least 45 days stale, and only long positions show. Overlap among independent concentrated managers is genuinely interesting, and it works as a research starting point. It carries no signal on its own.
Why do you count funds instead of dollars?
Because the portfolios differ in size by orders of magnitude — summing dollars would make every reading a description of the largest fund. Five independent managers each adding a name says more than one manager's large add, and fund counts capture that.
How current is this data?
As current as 13Fs allow: each fund's latest filing, refreshed as new filings post to EDGAR. Filings arrive up to 45 days after quarter-end, funds file on different dates, and the page states which funds trail the panel's modal quarter.
Do the managers know about each other's positions?
Only through the same public filings you are reading. When several arrive at the same name in the same stretch, it usually reflects independent research reaching similar conclusions — which is exactly why the overlap is worth watching, and also why it can be crowded.
